HEA Regular Election Dates

         HEA will conduct local elections for officers, board members, and delegates, at the same time. Nominations OPEN on Monday, February 13, and CLOSE on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Nomination forms will ONLY be accepted during these dates and must be at the HEA office no later than 4:30 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012. Campaigning is to be conducted from February 24 through March 6. No campaign materials are to be distributed before or after these dates. Please do not use school email accounts to send out election flyers. Elections will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6 & March 7, 2012. Nomination forms are available from your building representative, on the HEA website (at the bottom on of this page), or you may contact the HEA Office (256-533-7570).

HEA OFFICERS' AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS


HEA needs you to consider running for one of our local association positions. All of the officers' positions are open - president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. There are ten (10) certified (teacher) positions, three (3) classified (support) positions and one (1) administrator position, available for the Board of Directors. The position of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, are a 1 year term. All Board of Director positions are 2 year terms. As stated in Article 1, Section 1 of the HEA By-laws. "All candidates for office shall be members in good standing of the Association."

AEA & NEA DELEGATES


The NEA Convention will be held in Washington, DC June 30 - July 5, 2012. The AEA Delegate Assembly will be held in Montgomery, November 29-December 1, 2012. There are a total of thirteen (13) NEA delegate positions - ten (10) certified positions and three (3) support positions. There are a total of forty (40) AEA delegate positions - twenty-eight (28) certified positions, eleven (11) support positions, and one (1) administrator/supervisor position. The HEA president and vice-president are automatic delegates.
